The introduction of short pitched bowling has meant that young bowlers do not bowl at the required length to achieve reverse swing.
It has therefore been decided that groundsmen will be required to mark in a white line 60 inches from the batting crease.
Coaches will spend time developing the bowler’s grip and wrist action to enable swing to take place.
Bowlers will be encouraged to bowl into the area and the square leg umpire will record the number of balls bowled into the area in each over.
To reward success the umpire will signal to the scorer at the end of each over the number of balls which have landed in the target area during that over.
The scorer will ensure that an accumulative total is retained.
For every 6 balls which land in the target area the scorer will remove ONE ball from the number of balls to be bowled in the innings.
The success rate will be shown on the scoreboard.
The scorer will advise the umpire when the innings is to be closed.
If in a 20 over innings the scorer has recorded 6 successful balls bowled then the innings will be 19 overs and 5 balls in length.
Should the bowling side be very successful no innings can be reduced by more than 25% of overs to be bowled.
