Director Middlesex CCC; now appointed First Team coach. Well

Under 13 Regional Festival William Ray of Herts received the Gray Nicolls award
for the player of the South Region. He also received the Ian
Steene Award for the player with " the best technique at
the Festival" awarded by the 4 Regional coaches. He scored 71 not out v the West/ 110 not out against the Midlands and 4 against the North. |

off - Sussex top club- Horsham v Surrey- Malden Wanderers Horsham
played today won toss and elected to field. Fielding really well
bowling Malden Wanders out of the final ball for 101. Horsham
got off to a good start with Mat Donegan reaching 20 quickly.
Donegan fell stumped 26 and Captain Harry Carne batted well with
opener James Johnson. James batted very well and top scored with 41 not out as Horsham reached their winning target if 102 from 17 overs. A great win by the home team with both their bowling and batting very good. |

| 15/07/07 On Friday, 13th July, Harlands Primary School, Haywards Heath, became National Kwik Cricket champions, by winning the National finals at Headingley Carnegie Cricket Ground. This is a fantastic chievement for the school and a testament to the strength of primary school cricket in Sussex. It's also a fitting reward for the hard work of recently retired Harlands teacher Glyn Turner, who despite retiring, is still heavily involved with coaching the school team. | 21/06/07 Bognor U15 Vs Pagham U15 - Felpham won the toss on a bouncy looking pitch and decided to bat. Making use of the toss were Gary Maskell, Max Ashmore and Rob Willway who all retired. Bognor were helped to a formidable score with some big hitting at the end of the innings from Ryan Purvis. Bognor 131 off 20 overs. Pagham started poorly never looking like reaching the target losing wickets frequently from Jack Bingham, Adam Rutter and Johnny Knap. Felpham won by 40 runs. |

Yesterday- despite the fine weather - the pitches were not used and the Under 15/16/17 players were reduced to indoor work and activity on the outfield. The decison to abandon the 2 days was taken - for the first time ever- due to weather forecast for the area and the long distances many players have to travel. This unique situation will require a revised programme of selection and all players will be advised by e-mail - today. In cases of no e-mail address a letter will be sent by mail. |

| 01/04/07 Tom Cartwright MBE sadly died yesterday- Tom coached on the South of England residential Under 15 courses at Radley College in the 1980s and early 1990s. He had an excellent ability to bring out the best in fast bowlers. Watching him coach was an education in itself. He " retired" to Wales where he has for many years been the coach to the Welsh Under 16 side. |
