An e-mail from Roger Newman , Chairman of the East Area Cricket Association, is the first ray of light in the internet Sussex youth cricket world for nine years.
Putting general Sussex youth cricket information on the internet is extraordinarily difficult as one tries to squeeze information out from some staff responsible for youth cricket whilst others- generally voluntary workers- beaver away and send information in willingly.
At an ECB meeting this week it was observed by a coach in Gloucestershire that his parents used this site to find out what was going on in Regional cricket. Whilst that is seen to be a complement what on earth ....... No one is too busy to care.

So what has the East Area Cricket Association done ?
Firstly they have eased the problem of their Junior League Organiser- Nigel Ford- who has for many years typed out the results to this site and kept the Leagues up to date. Eased his work load that is- unless he is the genius behind the plan.

All the EAST AREA LEAGUE -(Once named WACA) FIXTURES / RESULTS and LEAGUE PLACINGS will now be entered centrally and will be shown on each competing Club's web site.
Just imagine- read the fixture- see the match details venue- time - check the team list- read the result - read the match report all on your own Club web site.

That is a tremendous move forward .
As a web host the Area have chosen the ECB Welcome to Play-Cricket, the ECB Cricket Network.
Nationally this web site has a reputation for being unfriendly to the user. But with time you can get used to it.

So let's make a start. The web site address is http://www.eastareacricket.co.uk/

Open the site keeping this page open - have half your screen this page and half your screen the East Area Site

Go the menu at the top of the page and Click on FIXTURES
Click on ALL DATES
DIVISION OR CUP Click and scroll down to EACA Under 10 EAST
You now have a page which shows you DATE HOME TEAM AWAY TEAM DIVISION
If it is in blue then a link has been established with that Club. If it is in black then work is in progress.
Click on the HOME TEAM .
You are now at the site of the Club which you clicked on.

This where the Club lists the player's name and places their match reports. The results will automatically be shown here as they will be placed on the central East Area site which has established links to each of it Clubs.

Using the Link LEAGUES return to the main East Area Page.
Now let's look at the Column entitled DIVISION
Click on that and you will see the LEAGUE TABLE for the Division.
This will also be kept up to date centrally.

Note if you are in charge of keeping your Club noticeboard up to date you can print out the League using the PRINT FRIENDLY link on the League page.

So there we are. The web master is tingling with excitement for the Area.

By the way if you want details of the Area Fixture lists for the EAST/NORTH/SOUTH/WEST and you are fed up reading this site you can find them at the East Area Site by clicking on Division or Cup and scrolling down until you reach what you are looking for.

Be patient if it is not yet complete -note Roger's e-mail shows how far they have got.

Hi Derek,
All the East Area Cricket Association Junior League Fixtures & Tables can now be viewed at www.eastareacricket.co.uk along with the Area Fixtures and Tables.Total fixtures = 363
At present the dates for all the fixtures have been put in for a Monday.
All the fixtures will also automatically appear on each Clubs Play Cricket Web-Site.
The results and tables will be updated weekly so there is no need for any admin to be done by the Clubs.
