A CHANCE TO SHINE-
following the progress of one Club's programme-
ST. JAMES MONTEFIOREC.C.
PART 3 -THE CURRICULUM TAKES SHAPE
- James Balcombe, coach to St. James
Montefiore CC, near Ditchling has the task of establishing a
coaching programme for 6 schools in the " catchment area
of the Club".
- He has selected 2 Secondary Schools
and is considering 5 Primary Schools together with one Independent
School
- In each Primary School a coach will
be working with 32 -34 pupils during school lesson time.
- In each Secondary School the coaching
will be offered to 60 pupils again during school lesson time.
- Each School will be allocated 2 lessons
of 2 hours duration each week for a 12 week period during the
summer.
- Dorothy Stringer Sports College will
provide additional funding for after school coaching
- A member of the school staff will
be in attendance during each lesson.
- Additional coaches will be sought from
specific Brighton Clubs to support the programme
- At the end of the coaching inter school
tournaments will take place for the children who have been coached.
- An incrediball will be used unless
it is clear that a hard ball is more suitable.
- An allocated sum of £6,500 will
be available for the programme supervised and devised by James.
- The bulk of the money- £5,000
will be up-front with £1,000 being handed over at the conclusion
of the coaching.
- An additional £500 will be given
to the Club in the form of cricket equipment.
- We will catch up with James in one
month as his plans begin to develop.
