SUSSEX JUNIOR CRICKET FESTIVAL 2008
At the well attended JCF AGM the following matters arose.
1. The proposed dates for 2008 were
changed as the Arundel Castle ground is not available for August
17th.
The Under 14 week and the
Under 16 week will therefore change. A venue for the Under 14
final week will be announced later.
| AGE | DATES | FINAL |
| UNDER 12 | W/C JULY 28TH | SUNDAY AUG 3RD |
| UNDER 16 | W/C AUG 4TH | SUNDAY AUG 10TH |
| UNDER 14 | W/C AUG 11TH | SUNDAY AUG 17TH |
| UNDER 11/13 | W/C AUG 18TH | SUNDAY AUG 24TH |
2. COUNTY PLAYERS-
both boys and girls SHOULD
NOT PLAY IN THE SHIELD COMPETITION.
This competition was introduced for Clubs to enter to play against
similar opposition. The JCF had in mind helping those Clubs who
were being thrashed by larger Clubs in the Bowl competition.
It is therefore totally unfair to enter
COUNTY PLAYERS IN THE SHIELD.
For example an Under 13 County player should not play at any age
group in the Shield. Some Clubs might consider that an Under 13
County player can play in an Under 16 Shield competition. This
is not the case. Despite the age difference a County player IS
a much better player than the average Club player who is selected
for a Shield side.
3. UMPIRES and other COACHING. A complaint had been received in respect of coaching during the game and - in particular by an Umpire during the game. This should not happen .
Web masters observation.
All Clubs play under the CODE OF CONDUCT
FOR PLAYERS AND PARENTS- Click on this link to read a copy.
At Regional level we allow a 5 minute break
- about once an hour for the coach to sort out field placings
etc.
Further before the game the coaches agree with the Umpires as
to how much verbal coaching will take place during the game. This
keeps the activity to a bare minimum and is undertaken unobtrusively.
It normally applies to field placings and adjustments are made
with the minimum of fuss and in a quiet manner.
4. The Under 16 Final will in future be named after the JCF founder- TONY AUSTIN
5. John Elkin resigned as Treasurer and was replaced by OWEN TRAVIS.
6. Paul Stanley stood down from the Committee. Two new members were elected M.BURTON-DURHAM and KEVIN WHITING.
7 The top prize of £150 December draw for the 100 Club was won by Preston Nomads CC
8. A grant of £1200 from the Spen Cama Foundation had been made to the JCF
