HOME COUNTY SCHOOL
CLUB NATIONAL NEW GROUND LINKS ARCHIVE
As a young cricketer you will benefit from the ground.
WHERE IS IT ? BLACKSTONE,
near Henfield
WHAT FACILITIES WILL THERE BE ? Imagine two playing fields with a pavilion in the middle of them. The first ground will be for Under 10,11, 12, 13 and the second ground up to Under 19. The design of the Pavilion will allow viewing from both sides - e.g. a building with 2 fronts and no back.
WHO WILL HAVE USE OF THE GROUND ? All County, District, Club competitions, School
competitions that can be practically timetabled to make maximum
use of the ground. The ground will also be used for STOOLBALL
and FOOTBALL in the winter.
HOW MUCH IS IT GOING TO COST ? We have set ourselves a target of £600,000. A huge amount of
money but included in that sum is the care and maintenance for 25 years. The salary of a groundsman; equipment to care
for the ground; upkeep of the pavilion are all items for which
a budget has been set. The actual total required to provide the
ground is about £300,000 but the CYZ Committee feel that,
if possible ,they would like to provide the ground with sufficient
funds to ensure that major fund raising in the future will not
be required.
HOW IS THE MONEY BEING RAISED ? Through
a series of fund raising activities listed on the pages of NEW
GROUND and through appeals for grants.
HOW CAN YOU HELP? By holding a small
fund raising activity of your own. One young lady of the fund
raising committee is going to undertake a sponsored "fly
on the wing of an aircraft" from Shoreham airport.
By asking your parents to covenant a sum of money over a period
of 4 years. This is my favourite idea because it
provides long term income. If 250 people paid £5 per month
for 4 years a sum of £77,000 would be raised.
By asking a business friend of your parents to consider sponsoring
an event. There are numerous items to sponsor at very reasonable
prices.
By giving an unusual raffle ticket.
Please help in any way that you can.
