ECB Wrist Spin Development Programme

I am contacting you regarding the ECB Wrist Spin Development Programme and in particular to provide you with an update on the programme (as seen in the latest edition of ‘Hitting the Seam’), an outline of the next stage of the programme - Jan / Feb 2005 - and to invite nominations of players and coaches to attend the coaching sessions and Coach Development Workshops.
As you can see from the Programme update, the Jan / Feb programme is split into 3 parts:
(i) All Comers – two open coaching sessions for any young wrist spin bowlers to attend both evenings
(ii) Advanced Group - coaching sessions for pre-selected young bowlers and any bowlers identified through the All Comers sessions
(iii) Coach Development Workshops – open session for any coaches

In respect of the All Comers Coaching Sessions, I attach a list of the sessions which are being run around the country. Any young players that attended last year will again be invited to attend. Please also let Julie Page (wristspin@ecb.co.uk) have details of any other young bowlers you feel would benefit from attending these sessions by completing the attached player nomination form, including the relevant session codes, by 31st December 2004. I attach a list of those bowlers who will be invited to attend.
I attach a list of the Advanced Group Sessions along with a list of those pre-selected boys that will be invited to attend. These bowlers will not be expected to attend the All Comers Coaching sessions. As stated, talented bowlers identified on the All Comers sessions may be invited to attend the Advanced Group sessions. If this Advanced Group is to be successful, it is vital that there is communication and continuity between these sessions and what is being delivered by the bowlers County coach etc. Please seek to ensure that the bowler's coach attends one or all of the sessions. Please also provide a brief update on the bowler’s stage of development prior to the sessions. Reports will be provided to the County coach etc following these sessions.
I attach a list of the Coach Development Workshops which are being held around the country. These are also being advertised on the ECB Coaches Association website and we will be asking the ECB CA County reps to advertise amongst their members. Please take steps to encourage as many coaches as possible from your County to attend. I attach an application form which should be returned to Julie Page, either electronically (wristspin@ecb.co.uk) or direct by mail to ECB at Lords by 31st December 2004.
I trust you have found this informative - we are very grateful for your support in promoting the programme and I look forward to working with you in seeking to develop high quality Wrist Spin bowlers.
Please pass this information to age group managers and coaches and anyone else you feel would benefit.
If there are any changes you wish to make to this e-mail mailing list please let Julie Page know as soon as possible.
Regards.
David Parsons
National Coach
