WEEK 12 18TH APRIL 2008
CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI FINALS AND FINAL EVENING
CAPEL 102-3 BEAT HORSHAM 100-4
ROFFEY 150-2 BEAT CRAWLEY 78-5
GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL
ROFFEY 101-3 BEAT CAPEL 86-5
Horsham, never really performed with the bat, with Tom Beck,19, and Will Ruddle,18,
Getting out just before retirement, becoming crucial as they were unable to mount an attack at the end of the innings, because of a lack of wickets.
Although Capel gave away 30 Extras, their outfielding led to Horsham.s downfall. Capel showed their intention from the first ball, running well between the wickets with Tom Bullock,18, and Joe Buckingham , 20,retired, leading the way
In the other semi-final Roffey racked up 150-2, the highest score of the competition Oli Bidlake,Oli Harris,Alex Southon, and Matt Bidlake all retiring, and Crawley were forced to take early risks, because of the run-rate,and paid the consequences with only Matthew Blandford and Lake offering any resistance
In the Final, Capel must have been well satisfied to restrict the free-scoring Roffey to101-3,
Oli Harris 20* and Alex Southon ,22* with Tom Bullock bowling his 3 overs for a miserly 17 runs.
In reply Capel started brightly with Joe Buckingham 22, and Sam Jacques 19, leading the way, but the pressure told and Matt Bidlake took 4 Wickets in the final over to wrap things up for Champions Roffey
Roffey were duly presented with the Trophy and Alex Southon with the Match ball for his contributions during the Finals Evening.
