With only one month to go before the players report back Matthew is now aware of the programme
ahead of him for March and April.
The 20 professional players report back on March 19th and they
will informally gather in the Members Bar with all the administrative
and ground staff. This social gathering is followed by a meeting
with the Chairman and Chief Executive.
For the remainder of the 19th and 20th March the players are able
to meet with members of the departments whose help they might
require. Matthew will probably
need help in respect of tax and National Insurance, personal insurance,
banking arrangements and membership of the Players' Union. All
the players are clothed and kitted out and they sign numerous
cricket bats. On the evening of the 20th the Sussex CCC Annual
General meeting will take place.
The next day Matthew will
be winging his way with the other 19 players to Grenada to play
in a series of matches. Northants CCC will also be on the island
and it is hoped Sussex will be playing a series of matches at
1st and 2nd X1 against them and other local sides.
He is in for a great start - let's hope
it continues that way.
