April 2008

Dear Junior Player,

The Sussex Cricket Academy carries out a Project every year to give something back to the Community utilising our fortunate position as cricketers.

In October 2007, the Sussex Academy visited the war graves in France.

As teenagers we were truly moved to see that so many young men & women of similar ages to ourselves made the ultimate sacrifice so that we might enjoy life as we do. We were also made aware of the thousands of injuries sustained, blindness being very common and hence the formation of St Dunstan’s.

The Sussex Cricket Academy is playing against the Army in a 40 over floodlit charity match to help raise money and awareness for St Dunstans a charity local to us who provide crucial assistance to ex-Service men and women with very significant loss of sight. It will be held at the Sussex County Cricket Ground Hove on Friday 9th May. We would like to invite you and any members of your families and friends to attend this event. Play will start at 3.30pm, entry will be free but there will collections throughout the match for any donations. A raffle will also be held.

There is a silent auction for the opportunity to play for the Sussex Academy Select XI in this floodlit match against the Army. Entrants must be 17- 50 and play a decent standard of cricket. Bids should be emailed to kate.green@ecb.co.uk by 5.00pm on the 2nd May to enable you to have the chance of playing along side members of the Sussex Pro Staff and Academy.

If you cannot attend the match but wish to make a donation, just click on the Sussex CCC website www.sussexcricket.co.uk and click the justgiving weblink.

We would be grateful for any support you can give us.

Thank you

Siobhan
