It must be the Sussex air which enables the County to produce some of the best keepers in England. Peter Moores, the Sussex County Cricket Club Coach, is a rarity amongst the coaching circuit in that he occupies a senior coaching position as an ex- wicket keeper. Paul Farbrace, National Coach, for the Under 15 side also kept wicket in his professional career for Kent and Middlesex. Both these players have organised excellent courses for our young keepers and we are now beginning to see the fruits of everyone's labour.
SHAUN HUMPHRIES -originally from Surrey - Barns Green, Horsham - progressed through the County Representative age groups - made his 1st class debut in 1993. Spends time coaching our Juniors
NICHOLAS WILTON -
Crowborough - progressed through the County representative age
groups- South of England player Under 14 - capped for England
Under 14- England Under 17 and Under 19 - side for the County
and in 1999 played several times for the Sussex CCC. Nick also
spends time coaching our youngsters.
CHRISTOPHER MOLE - originally Cuckfield CC moved to Haywards Heath
CC now with Three Bridges CC. Chris is an ever present in the
Sussex County Board side and has played several important games
for the ECB Board side. This team is the senior amateur England
side. Chris successfully keeps wicket and performs well with the
bat.
MATTHEW PRIOR - Brighton. A member of the Sussex Academy and the Under 19 side. Originally from South Africa Matthew played for the County age groups from the age of 12. Selected for the South of England Under 14 side and the England Under 14 side Matthew has been a member of the English National squad ever since and is now involved with the National Under 19 side.
ANDREW HODD - Bexhill - a member of the County age groups since the Under 11 side. Selected to play for the South of England Under 13 side and followed the next year with selection for the England Under 14 side. Has been part of the England set up since then and is now in the England Under 17 squad. A member of the Sussex Academy.
MARC GARDNER - St. James Montefiore - a member of the County age groups since the Under 11 squad. Present member of the Under 14 County side. Selected for the South of England Under 13 side and joined the England training squad . Recently selected for the South of England Under 14 side.
RICHARD YOUNG - Ansty - Joined the County age groups at the age of 11. Selected to play for the South of England Under 13 side as wicket keeper/ batsman and to Captain the side.
