The Sussex Young Cricketers Educational Trust ( S.Y.C.E.T. ) was established in 1986.

· to provide facilities and encourage school children and young persons to play cricket

· to provide coaching , courses, demonstrations and lectures

· to promote or assist in providing training for teachers in the coaching of cricket

· to provide and maintain playing fields and indoor facilities to be used for teaching and playing cricket

Sussex County Cricket Club have appointed two Youth Development Officers and a Director of Excellence thus increasing the range of young cricketers, both boys and girls, who can be introduced to cricket.

The S.Y.C.E.T. attracts donations, covenants, gifts and legacies, and, with the help of a joint appeal with Sussex C.C.C. , the Trust is in a position to carry out the objects for which it was formed.

In 1998 the Trust gave its support to the introduction of a Sports Scholarship by the County Cricket Club and Sussex University. Applications are invited from young cricketers in Sussex to Chris Snell and Chris Waller, Sussex C.C.C..
